BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi (PIA) -Three units of a
speedboat-type sea ambulance were turn over to the provincial government of
Tawi-Tawi by DOH-ARMM in a simple ceremony Friday at Lomboy wharf in Bongao,
where the three fast crafts were anchored.
Governor Nurbert Sahali received the sea
ambulance from DOH-ARMM Secretary, Dr. Kadil Sinolinding after the ribbon
cutting ceremony, which symbolized the formal turn- over of the fast craft to
the provincial government.
Sahali said the arrival of the three
speedboats –type ambulance is of great help to the people in the island
municipalities as it will hasten the patient’s mobility to the nearest hospital
in cases of emergency. “It will help
save lives,” he added.
He said that Tawi-Tawi is composed of
island municipalities wherein the need for sea transportations is placed in a
very high demand.
“We will dispatch the first three sea
ambulances to the Municipalities of Panglima Sugala, Sapa-Sapa, and Sibutu,”
Sahali stressed.
He also conveyed his gratitude to the
national government and the ARMM for the grant of special projects that are
directly beneficial to the people.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sukarno Asri, provincial
health officer, revealed that seven motorized “jungkung” or pump boats will
also be dispatched to Tawi-Tawi by DOH-ARMM as part of special projects to help
LGUs in the island municipalities to serve their constituencies with purposes and
