BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi (October 6) - The Dagan Kalna’ Sambuwangan concluded this morning when about 1,500 participants assembled at the MSU High School ground, and pledge a commitment to run and raise funds for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Zamboanga City.
The run for a cause was a brainchild of MSU Professor Felimon Romero who saw the need to raise funds to aid the over a hundred thousand Zamboanga IDPs who were force to flee their homes from the unprincipled war perpetrated by the MNLF Misuari faction, which raided Zamboanga City for about two weeks, and engaged government forces fiercely claiming death of a number of people and razing down residential houses in at least five barangays.
In his message, Governor Nurbert Sahali conveyed his appreciation to the cause of the Dagan Kalna’ Sambuawangan, saying that the event was as simple as any fun run but the objective was noble and the impact is great as a financial aid to the ordeal of the IDPs.
For his part, GM Rosendo Reyes of Bongao Water District and president of Tawi-Tawi Alumni Association said the planning and coordination of the Dagan Kalna’ Sambuwangan event was fruitful as it reaped success.
He thanked the runners from the different organizations and government agencies for their cooperation and participation, especially, the provincial government which gave its all out support in making the Run very successful.
